Strengthened

1 Samuel 30:6

And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters.
But David strengthened himself in the Lᴏʀᴅ his God

Popularity can be fleeting. Imagine yourself surrounded by loyal supporters willing to follow you anywhere, anytime. You are their hero, their leader and then… You lead them to victory but when you return to your homes, their families have been taken captives by enemies. Your ‘loyal supporters’ talk of stoning you.

What do you do? Where do you turn to bring life back from distress?

But David strengthened himself in the Lᴏʀᴅ his God.”

Sometimes the last straw is the best! When all is against you, turn to God. The arm of the best of friends is not as reliable as the Lᴏʀᴅ.

If only your last straw was the first, the only. Remember—God, above all, your true strength.
