“Being Served, Becoming a Server”
A relationship with God should be in His image. That said, to quote Jesus,
Yes, you will be served, God has placed people in the Church (“Church” is a term for all believers in Jesus, not merely an organizational entity) “… to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all…”1 You are being prepared to serve, that is part of being in His image. You should find that serving is a joy and a privilege for you are doing it ‘in the image of Jesus’ and not for position, power, prestige or any other vanity. But serving is a learning experience; you might not even be given opportunity to serve in your comfort zone! Can you think “humble” or God being greater in your being less?
Let us give you a few suggestions for organizations that either are especially good at equipping or provide opportunities to serve under their leadership.
ORGANIZATIONS THAT EQUIP
The Navigators is an international and interdenominational ministry with the stated purpose of “To know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same.” They offer free e-mail series of online tools and resources to help believers grow and have been helping for almost a hundred years.

With Cru, you’ll have local and global opportunities to Learn, Connect and Go.”

YWAM Youth With a Mission is also an opportunity to “Join a global movement, full of young people driven by a passion to know God and make Him known.” Since 1960 when God gave the vision to Loren and Darlene Cunningham, YWAM has been a mobilizer for youth of all ages with bases across the world. The YWAMMER is discipled (Discipleship Training School), puts faith into practice on a Mission Trip or serves as a Volunteer where needed across the World.

This is only a partial list and is organizations we have had direct experience with; many other worthwhile groups disciple.
ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE
Not to imply these don’t also equip but these are groups we have found trustworthy in both scope and responsibility.
Samaritan’s Purse is a national and global Christian charity especially known for emergency relief but also active in long-term ministries such as World Medical Mission and their annual Operation Christmas Child. Founded in 1970 by Bob Pierce and lead since 1979 by Franklin Graham (also leading Billy Graham Evangelistic Association), it is a reliable means to give relief for worldwide needs and also has a vast network providing opportunities to serve those in need, either short- or long-term.

World Gospel Mission is the result of over one hundred years of passion for missions and provides opportunities for service in short-term, month long, years and even internships to meet the needs of the Gospel around the World. Our personal connection with WGM is through Africa Gospel Church Baby Centre, Ngata, Kenya and the Kenya: The Least of These ministries.

Besides these are many other worthwhile ministries expressing Jesus wherever needed. We also believe strongly in supporting ministries locally and globally through our local church.
