Reminders

Exodus 31:13

You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you.”

What are the milepost reminders in your life between you and your God? Is it an event, where you first recognized God or a baptism or some other ‘major’ milestone?

In Exodus 31:13 the Lᴏʀᴅ is giving you a perpetual reminder of His priority in your life, a sign to you of His work begun and ongoing, completed and perpetual.

Do you need a reminder? God thinks so but many live as if it is unnecessary, that we will ‘always’ remember. God says to ‘keep’ a weekly reminder, something we observe, watch over, even celebrate to keep fresh the miracle between us in which He has set us apart as His own, in continuing relationship with Him.

God does not want us to lose the remembrance of His work on our behalf, to begin to assume or take it for granted or even worse, to forget our entering in with Him by His work on our behalf. Is there a tendency to move away, to become distracted by the dailies of life such that we forget His active participation in our lives? Apparently so or He would not have given us a perpetual sign to pause and be reminded.

Are you reminded as often as He desires?
