What precisely would you like to bring into your relationship with the Lᴏʀᴅ? Or, what does the Lᴏʀᴅ desire from you in that relationship with Hiim? Do you think God needs something you have that He is lacking?
Have you ever fallen into expecting more of yourself than God expects of you only to discover that you thought He was less than your need, that you could take care of it yourself? Do you find arrogance where He desires humility? Today’s text points to the foolishness God sees when we go anywhere other than the Lᴏʀᴅ for real needs.
Another prophet has been sent to talk to another king of Judah because King Asa is depending upon his own resources to solve his dilemma. The message is about how futile the King’s resolution is for the ultimate outcome,
Have you noticed reliance upon your resources getting in the way of God’s work on your behalf? His desire is to give you strong support when your heart is wholly toward Him but have you ‘done foolishly’ in trusting upon other resources, excluding Him? In previous times, you did rely upon God, and He made the way for you. Why not now?
If you rely upon the Lᴏʀᴅ in the small things, you are in that trusting reliance upon Him when the big’s come.
