Lord of Light

2 Samuel 22:29

“For you are my lamp, O LORD, and my God lightens my darkness.”

David has been anointed to be king over Israel but King Saul is still on the throne, leads the nation, and Saul does not want David to take his place. Many long months pass after the anointing without David experiencing the reality of kingship. David serves King Saul faithfully but Saul seeks David’s demise so Saul can establish his own dynasty. You (David) live in caves, desolation, even in Philistine cities, often on the run pursued by Saul’s followers. Your own band of followers have talked of stoning you. You only have the Lᴏʀᴅ to companion you, to lift you up from despair,

For you are my lamp, O LORD, and my God lightens my darkness.”

In the midst of life’s darkness, you trust God to be your light. You can come through this day, this week, this time no matter the darkness because you see the Light of Life, the One you know is able,

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 1

Will you walk in God’s Light today, letting the Lᴏʀᴅ bring His Light into your darkness?
