Here I am

Genesis 22:11-12

But the angel of the Lᴏʀᴅ called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

Yesterday we saw Abraham entering the testing by God. Today we see the resolution.

Throughout our eleven chapters of Genesis with Abraham, one of the traits which mark him is that “Here I am” response to God. Abraham has a life of not pulling back from God even when he does not understand what or how God is accomplishing. He simple takes God at His word.

James 2:23 sums up Abraham’s relationship toward God:

…and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God.1

Now there is a worthy goal for our lives! We will not be written into the Bible for all to read but there is coming a day… Set your goal high and live that “Here I am” life before God. Starting today.
