Do you need more than God to live a fulfilled life, God plus a little more to be fully satisfied?
David’s Psalm 62 begins,
This opening phrase is repeated in verse 5; in this first verse it is followed with, ‘from Him comes my salvation’ and in the second use, ‘for my hope is from Him.’ These phrases set the focus of David upon God, God alone. Verse 2, ‘He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress’ emphasizes that the Lᴏʀᴅ is not only central but exclusive. David acknowledges all else is false confidence and then comes right back to the supremacy of the Lᴏʀᴅ, that only God is worthy of ultimate trust.
David ends this psalm reaffirming all that is meaningful, and all that accomplishes is God’s alone, and is dispensed in His steadfast love. It is not just power to accomplish but also the love to express, sustain and establish. The final phrase assures God will be fruitful in those who wait upon and wait in Him. While we may do the ‘work,’ He is the Creator, the One who brings the fruitfulness. Thank you, Lᴏʀᴅ.
