God’s Favor

Genesis 39:21

But the Lᴏʀᴅ was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”

When life isn’t as you expected. A few years earlier, Joseph had a God-dream of being someone special, of having his family bow down to him. He even told them of the dream much to their displeasure. No one was sharing his enthusiasm; in fact, when opportunity came, his  brothers sold him to slave traders and he was taken to Egypt. But, life began to ascend and he became the head servant of a powerful person. Then it fell apart again. Now he is in prison of all places! What about that dream back when he was 17? This was not going according to expectations at all.

Where do you expect to experience God’s presence, where He will show you His steadfast love, establish favorable circumstances for you? Prison? Really? Joseph’s ascendance would not have had the appearance of ‘rising’ to anyone except the Lᴏʀᴅ. By every sight, this was just the opposite of being favored by God, being loved by God or even merely favored by man. Yet God was promoting Joseph through a maze of circumstances unimaginable to anyone but the Lᴏʀᴅ. If we judge the momentary, the dream will never come to pass. God will not accomplish, Joseph will fail. But only in the appearance of the present, not the progression, the preparation by God for what is coming.

Soon, but not yet. This is time to trust God.
