But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lᴏʀᴅ on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
“For thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lᴏʀᴅ, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lᴏʀᴅ, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lᴏʀᴅ, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.”
God is Faithful. No matter how the moment appears to us, God is Faithful to fulfill all He says He will do. Often, what He is doing is outside our comprehension even though we are involved, going through that process.
Sometimes, what the Lᴏʀᴅ is asking us to go through and how He expects us to participate seems counter-intuitive to what we expect—you are to be captives, slaves, in a foreign land and God wants you to seek what is best for that foreign land:
Probably makes no sense from your perspective but God knows what His intentions are through this time for you:
Did you notice how deliberate, thorough and precise the Lᴏʀᴅ is in His pronouncements: fulfilling My promise, giving a future and a hope, again being ‘found’ by them, restored into what was original. Wow. This is not some knee-slapping, haphazard, afterthought reaction but the Lᴏʀᴅ’s decisive action on their behalf to bring them back into the relationship He desires and with their faithfulness in Him.
Have you given God the opportunity to fulfill His promised desires in your life, to be in faithful relationship with Him and to live in His fullness. Why not listen to His promises into your life today?
