Solomon, known as the wisest man ever, writes Song of Solomon with feeling—magnifying his delight in the best relationship. Many of us men are less wise when it comes to expressing our feelings for our dearest ones. Solomon appears to have mastered that expression:
First, Solomon prepares a feast for his Beloved, then brings her into the atmosphere he has prepared just for her. Guys, take a note: Those you love like to have you tangibly express Love in special, thoughtful, meaningful acts. Not just a card or a look or an babble but with acts of love. Something taking time and thought to ready for the moment, something that cost you effort and consideration.
Second, the Beloved is not simply receiving an acting out, a duty done to make up for times you only acted with words. ‘His banner over me is love’ speaks of an ongoing, underlying dynamic where the entire relationship is wrapped in the perpetual canopy of love poured out.
Yes, this is also a glimpse into our relationship with the Lᴏʀᴅ as He has prepared the Way for us to be with Him in relationship, enjoying His provision, and with His banner of love covering us.
Live in the joy of His love today and forevermore. Do Him the courtesy of loving Him daily.
