Nobodies

…left in the land of Judah some of the poor people who owned nothing, and gave them vineyards and fields…

Togetherness

…declares the LORD: “I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

Fulfilling Promises

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lᴏʀᴅ, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lᴏʀᴅ.”

Eventually

“For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day, the word of the Lᴏʀᴅ has come to me, and I have spoken persistently to you, but you have not listened…”

God-Given Heart

“I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lᴏʀᴅ, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.”

Making Known

“Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the Lᴏʀᴅ.”

Clinging to God

“For as the loincloth clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me,” declares the Lᴏʀᴅ.

Boast in the Lᴏʀᴅ

Thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lᴏʀᴅ who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lᴏʀᴅ.”

God Says

Even the stork in the heavens knows her times, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane keep the time of their coming, but my people know not the rules of the Lᴏʀᴅ.

That It May Be Well

But this command I gave them: ‘Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’

False Hopes

Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush.

Unity to the End

An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land: the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes?

Recipe for Undone

Your evil will chastise you, and your apostasy will reprove you. Know and see that it is evil and bitter for you to forsake the Lᴏʀᴅ your God

Exchange Rate

“… for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.”

Finding Fault with God

Thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ: “What wrong did your fathers find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthlessness, and became worthless?”

God Appointed

Now the word of the Lᴏʀᴅ came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Alignment

“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your…”

Look to the Source

“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek the LORD: look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug.
Look to Abraham your father and to Sarah who bore you; for he was but one when I called him, that I might bless him and multiply him.”

Who is Lᴏʀᴅ

And now the Lord Gᴏᴅ has sent Me, and his Spirit. Thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lᴏʀᴅ your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.

First & Only

“I, I am the Lᴏʀᴅ, and besides me there is no savior.”

My Friend, You Worm

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend;… Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel!

Comparing God

To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One.

Raging Against the Lᴏʀᴅ

“Because you have raged against me and your complacency has come to my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will turn you back on the way by which you came.”

No Fear in the Lᴏʀᴅ

‘Thus says the Lᴏʀᴅ: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the young men of the king of Assyria have reviled me.’

Trust in the Lᴏʀᴅ

‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: On what do you rest this trust of yours? Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? In whom do you now trust…?’

Self Made

You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high.’

Full of Glory

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lᴏʀᴅ of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

Clear Paths

But the Lᴏʀᴅ of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.

Reasonable

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lᴏʀᴅ: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool…”

Delighted

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

Fear God

Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

Scheming

See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.

Made Beautiful

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart…

Hateful God

There are six things that the Lᴏʀᴅ hates, seven that are an abomination to him…

Guarded

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

All-In Trust

Trust in the Lᴏʀᴅ with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make straight your paths.

Avoiding God

…Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lᴏʀᴅ, would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices.

First Knowledge

The fear of the Lᴏʀᴅ is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Enduring Love

‘… for His steadfast love endures forever, …”

Hypocrisy

But they flattered him with their mouths; they lied to him with their tongues. Their heart was not steadfast toward him; they were not faithful to his covenant.

In Spite of All This

In spite of all this, they still sinned; despite his wonders, they did not believe.

God’s Steadfast Love

Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.

More than I

“… Lead me to the rock that is higher than I…”

Committed

Commit your way to the Lᴏʀᴅ; trust in him, and He will act.

Living Tight

The friendship of the Lᴏʀᴅ is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.

His Paths

He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Humility in the Light

“You save a humble people… it is You who light my lamp; the Lᴏʀᴅ my God lightens my darkness.”
