Blessed in Delighting

Psalms 1:1-6

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lᴏʀᴅ, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lᴏʀᴅ knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

God’s ways or not? Quite the stark contrast, a contrast of consequences.

Blessed are those who ‘delight in the law of the Lᴏʀᴅ,’ who ‘meditates on His ways continually,’ who flourishes in fulfillment in the Lord.

Not so for the other option: lives in the counsel of all that opposes God, philosophizes with those who scoff at God’s wisdom, has no stability, drifts through life, fails the test of trials, perishes apart from God because they choose to go another way.

Prospering’ in verse 3 is linked to foundations of life rooted in God, nourished by what God says rather than what seems right to man, those elements of God bringing forth fruitfulness in the continuing life lived rooted in Him.

And the conclusion: the wicked have no part in life with God but perish apart from all that could be embraced while the blessed prosper eternally embracing God.

Seems like a clear choice—being ‘blown away’ as chaff or prospering and fruitful close to God.
