Perspective is a divine gift. David tried to bring the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem but a lapse in following God’s instructions saw the Ark kept in the home of Obed-edom for three months. David was displeased over the lapse and death of one of his men but took note that God blessed the house of Obed-edom. 1
David reconsidered the ‘how-to’ of moving the Ark and set out to do it God’s way in every detail including carrying rather than hauling. It became a celebration of God’s presence rather than a task. The celebration is recounted in chapters 15 and into 16; the Ark is brought into the tent, God’s sacrifices are offered, the people are blessed in the Name of the Lᴏʀᴅ. David gives forth with one of his songs of thanksgiving to the Lᴏʀᴅ for God’s distinctiveness above all else. Today’s verses point to not just what God has done but to God’s supremacy above all others:
When your God-life doesn’t suit your expectations, do you reconsider in light of who God is and respond to His expectations instead of your own?
He is still Lᴏʀᴅ, Above all.
